Prof. Marek Konarzewski is an employee of the Institute of Biology of the University of Bialystok and the Faculty of Artes Liberales of the University of Warsaw. In 1991-1993 he was a scholarship holder at the University of California in Los Angeles, where he worked in Jared Diamond’s research team. Scientific interests of prof. Konarzewski focus on the issues combining the disciplines of evolutionary ecology, physiology and genetics of birds and mammals. In 2017, the Foundation for Polish Science published the guide "America for postdocs" a co-authorship of prof. Konarzewski, and earlier a book devoted to the evolution of the human diet ("At first there was a famine", PIW) and two photo albums about the Biebrza river valley.

Since 2010, prof. Konarzewski has been a correspondent member of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In 2008-2013 he was the adviser to the minister for scientific and technological exchange at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington. In 2017, he became the adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Science and Technology.
