Prof. Tomasz Pietrzykowski – doctor of law with post-doctoral degree (habilitacja), professor of the University of Silesia in Katowice, specialising in legal theory and philosophy of law. Graduate of law studies at the University of Silesia in Katowice (2003) and a programme in British and European law co-organised by the University of Silesia and the University of Cambridge (2004). Scholarship fellow of the US State Department (International Visitors Program, 2007) and the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation (Leibniz University Hannover, 2008). Founder and director of the interdisciplinary Research Centre for Public Policy and Regulatory Governance at the University of Silesia. Author of monographs and treatises published by leading Polish and foreign publishing houses specialising in law. Participant in numerous research projects funded under Polish and international grant programmes. Experienced legal advisor, for many years now associated with one of the major Polish law firms. Silesia province governor in the years 2005–2007. Co-author of provisions on the metropolitan union in the province of Silesia. Since 2016, vice-rector for domestic and international cooperation of the University of Silesia in Katowice.
