Grażyna Żebrowska, PhD, has been appointed for a position of new Director General of NAWA on May 8, 2020.

“One cannot successfully tackle contemporary challenges such as coronavirus  pandemic, climate change or building knowledge-based economy without international cooperation. Supporting it makes NAWA the institution playing key role in building intellectual capacity of Poland” – emphasises new Director General of NAWA, Ms. Grażyna Żebrowska. “NAWA will be also an institution that contributes to creation image of Poland as a country that enables successful research and innovation on the highest international level “– she adds.

Since 2019 Grażyna Żebrowska, PhD has been working as a Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Before that, within 2003 and 2019 she has been working as the Advisor for science, technology, and higher education at the Embassy of Poland in Washington DC. At this position she was responsible for initiating and facilitating cooperation between Polish and US researchers and  academic institutions. She was also engaged in promoting Polish higher education institutions and research bodies in the United States.

The new Director General of the Agency is a physicist by profession. She obtained a PhD with scientific applications of physical sciences in the field of medicine at University of Rennes 1 in France and the University of Gdańsk.
