Call for proposals in the second edition of the Polish Returns Programme, which is addressed to Polish scientists working in HEIs around the world. The objective is to encourage the return of Polish scientists who have achieved scientific and didactic success in foreign scientific centres.
The project is also a unique opportunity for Polish HEIs and research units to acquire specialists with international experience and knowledge of the most recent research trends in their scientific discipline.
The Polish Returns Programme is the only grant offer for Polish scientists residing in scientific centres abroad, which gives them the opportunity to return to Poland to create their own project group and conduct research with funding conditions on par with the global standards. Their presence in the Polish scientific space will be an opportunity to increase the level of internationalisation in higher education and research.
In the Programme‘s first edition in 2018, funding was granted to twenty-two projects: sixteen in the field of natural sciences (including the sciences), three applications in the field of engineering and technical sciences and one application each from social sciences, medical and health sciences and humanities. The authors of funded projects garnered their experience working at higher education institutions or research units in countries like the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Denmark, Spain, as well as Singapore or South Korea. The returning scientists either began or will begin work at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology or the Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences Collectively, it will be twelve scientific centres throughout Poland.
