NAWA started the last week with a visit to the headquarters of the German Academic Exchange Agency DAAD (14-16 May), where the Directorate of: Łukasz Wojdyga and Zofia Sawicka, PhD, together with Agata Bader, Head of the Student Programs Division, talked about the direction in which cooperation between the agencies should develop. The Polish delegation met, among others, with the Secretary General DAAD Dorothea Rüland, her deputy Ulrichem Grothus and the directors of the DAAD content divisions. One of the assumptions of the visit was to introduce not only NAWA as a new partnership institution, but also current and future offer of the Agency. As noted during the talks, the potential area of cooperation between Poland and Germany are the GoEast programmes and support for Polish study centres. The important conclusions of the meeting include the need to increase personal exchanges and intensify inter-university cooperation. The Agencies will work to intensify the activities above in mutual cooperation and create new joint initiatives.
The visit in Germany was also an opportunity to meet with the remaining institutions that play an active role in the area of academic exchange and internationalization of science and higher education – The German Conference of Rectors (Hochschulrektorenkonferenz - HRK), The German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft - DFG) and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung – AvH). The meetings brought a lot of inspiration and were a valuable source of experience for NAWA activities.
