KATAMARAN – Establishing and conducting joint second-cycle studies
The KATAMARAN Programme supports Polish higher education institutions in developing and delivering international joint or double master's degree programmes. By encouraging close academic collaboration between Polish and international universities, the programme enhances the global profile of Polish higher education and creates more opportunities for students to pursue integrated, high-quality study programmes across borders.
Who is the programme for?
KATAMARAN is intended for:
- students seeking joint or double master’s degrees delivered collaboratively by partner universities,
- academic staff involved in designing and delivering international curricula,
- institutions aiming to enhance their internationalisation capacity through long-term educational partnerships.
Who can apply?
Applications may be submitted by Polish universities and research institutions authorised to provide:
- second-cycle (master’s) programmes,
- joint or double degree programmes developed with foreign partners.
What does the programme support?
KATAMARAN funds activities related to:
- designing and launching joint study programmes that lead to a joint diploma,
- creating double degree programmes based on harmonised curricula between partner institutions,
- preparing recruitment processes, promotional activities, and organisational frameworks needed to run international programmes,
- strengthening institutional capacity for international cooperation.
These programmes are jointly developed by partner universities, including shared learning outcomes, curriculum structure, course content, and admission rules. They may be implemented fully in Poland, abroad, or in a combined format.
The programme is financed from the European Funds for Social Development 2021–2027 (FERS) under the NAWA project “Support for the creation and implementation of international education programmes”, project no. FERS.01.05-IP.08-0436/23.
