We invite you to a country with an extraordinary tradition of freedom, tolerance and democracy - a country that created the first constitution in Europe and a union with Lithuania which is a model of integration with equal rights; a country with the DNA of peaceful cooperation, and at the same time a country which, thanks to its sovereignty regained in 1989, has become a place of dynamic economic and scientific development and a leader in the region of Central and Eastern Europe.
Up-to-date information about summer courses in Polish language and culture in 2026.
Courses are held throughout the whole year. The dates and universities that organize the courses you will find here. Onsite courses last from 1 to 4 weeks; online courses – from 1 to 12 weeks. Courses are organized by the Polish universities with leading Centers of teaching Polish as a foreign language and having NAWA’s accreditation. Most of the courses (which means summer courses and Learn Poland courses) include:
lessons of Polish language
trips to top tourist attractions
integrational events – also games, contests, projects
workshops and lectures on Polish culture, history, habits, art, everyday life
meeting with Poles – students, university representatives, politicians, businessmen, scholars.
The remaining types of courses (i.e. adaptation and certification courses) have a slightly different program, which will be soon described in more detail in individual tabs.
The courses - including all activities related to them, as well as (in the case of on-site courses) accommodation and meals - are free of charge. Participants cover only the cost of travel to – and from - Poland, as well as the cost of medical insurance, including possible costs of transport to the country of residence. This insurance is obligatory, but it does not have to be purchased if the country of citizenship of the course participant has signed appropriate agreements with Poland.
If you want to learn more about the courses that took place in 2025 and have already ended, check here.
The following groups are invited to participate in the courses:
Persons entitled to participate in summer courses (that is: on-site Summer courses in Polish language and culture, on-line Summer courses in Polish language and culture):
students and academic teachers of foreign universities who are foreigners or have dual citizenship (Polish and citizenship of another country) for whom Polish is not the first language, who do not study, are not employed and do not live in Poland
They must know Polish or English at least at B1 level to be able to communicate on organizational matters.
Persons entitled to participate in adaptation courses (that is: on-site adaptation courses, on-line adaptation courses):
students of foreign universities intending to study in Poland,
students in the final year of secondary school outside Poland or graduates holding a secondary school leaving certificate or a document entitling them to undertake studies issued outside Poland and obtained no earlier than in 2023, intending to study in Poland,
foreign students admitted to studies in Poland in the academic years 2025/2026 and 2026/2027
They must know Polish or English at least at B1 level to be able to communicate on organizational matters.
Persons entitled to participate in all the other courses (that is: Learn Poland courses, courses preparing to B2 certificate exam):
those who are entitled to participate in the summer courses
those who are entitled to participate in the adaptation courses
Monitor our website which is the most important and reliable source of the information about the courses. There - usually at the end of the calendar year - we publish the basic information about the courses in the coming summer: the times, the university organizing the course, the mode (onsite-online).
Wait till the universities publish application forms on their websites – once they do it, you will also see the links on this website. While waiting you can check what the universities offered last year and the general information about them and think which course fits you most. You may also use this time to get the recommendation from your academic teacher.
Fill in the form of the chosen university. You may apply also for the course of your second and third choice. Remember to give the e-mail address that you have easy access to and which will be valid till the end of calendar year – we send evaluation questionnaire during or after the course. Notice that you should check your e-mail box (including spam) regularly, because if the accepted candidate does not confirm participation in due time the person from the waiting list is accepted instead and the place is taken.
Wait for the answer knowing that with so many candidates applying the processing of the applications and making a decision takes time. If you do not get any answer within a month – and especially if the university promised to inform you about the results earlier – check your spam folder and – if the answer is still not there - write to the university of your choice to ask for your status.
If you get the place:
confirm within the given time that you will participate in the course,
be sure to check your e-mail regularly and follow all the directions from the university,
be sure to notify immediately the university if anything changes in your situation and you will not be able to participate; late resignation and not attending the course without prior notice is extremely inconvenient for the universities (sometimes it is impossible to find someone else in the last minute option) and may result rejecting any other NAWA’s program application.
All the participants of NAWA courses are obliged to fill in the questionnaire right after the end of the course.
6. If you do not get a place:
you may be put on the waiting list and be invited if someone earlier accepted resigns,
you may consider applying for the online course which is - in most cases - easier to get place at; finishing the online course with engagement and good marks should help you to get place at the onsite course next year,
you may consider commercial courses (not financed by NAWA) which are offered by the most of the NAWA accredited universities and are of at least the same quality as the ones financed by NAWA.
What are the expectations regarding my participation?
achieving the minimum attendance at classes indicated by the university organizing the course,
building a good atmosphere during all the activities with the engagement, respect to others and mutual help
participation in evaluation activities during and after the course, including completing an online survey within 14 days of its availability, access to which will be provided before the end of the course,
cooperation with the university staff and lecturers in order to achieve the best course results,
(applies to on-site courses) appropriate maintenance of the place of accommodation, places of classes and entrusted didactic materials.
It would be our dream come true if the course would make a lasting bond between you and Poland and if you would promote the possibilities our country give to study, work, live and make business, promote the courses of Polish language and culture - also NAWA and its programs.
Those who has not participated in the on-site course financed by NAWA, yet.
Those who participated in the on-line course financed by NAWA and showed good results and engagement.
Citizens of developed countries (see the list here).
Students of the best universities (e.g. first 100 according to Shanghai Ranking).
Those who will prove that participation in the course will have the continuation in their academic or professional future.
Those who will have the will and possibility to spread good opinion of Poland in their countries (e.g. people who publish their texts).
Those who have good impact on the atmosphere in the group, have good motivation for learning and bring positive spirit.
Additional information:
One person is eligible to take part only in one course in one (e.g. 2025) year, even if this person is accepted by more than one university. In such a case one should choose the preferred university and resign from the others.
Universities may add additional criteria (like the variety of the course participants) to organize the best possible course.
Course programme
The course programme is very rich and attractive. For a full-time course for students and academic teachers, it includes at least:
