Head of the Department of Measurements and Control Systems at the Silesian University of Technology and chair of the chapters of numerous programmes and competitions.
Editor-in-Chief of Archives of Control Sciences and Managing Editor of the International Journal of Acoustics and Vibration. His research focuses on digital signal processing, vibroacoustics, industrial automation, diagnostics, and mathematical modelling. Author of more than 250 publications, including four books in English. Ranked among the top 2% of the world’s scientists according to the Stanford–Elsevier ranking. Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Polish Academy of Engineering.
In the years 2016–2024 he served as Vice-Rector for Research and Development at the Silesian University of Technology. He has also served as Chair of the State Science Policy Committee, President of the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration, and Vice-President of the Prosilesia – Business, Science, Local Government association.
He has led numerous projects financed from national and international sources, including Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe programmes, where he serves as consortium coordinator. He has organised several international congresses.
Recipient of numerous awards and distinctions, including awards of the Minister, FIAT, Siemens, the Technical Sciences Division of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Personality of the Year award in the Marka Śląskie competition, and the European Personality award in the European Universities – Alliances of the Future competition.
