On 29 and 30 November, a meeting of Polonista NAWA scholarship holders took place in Warsaw. The event brought together students and doctoral candidates pursuing Polish studies in the current academic year at Polish universities, including Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Jagiellonian University in Kraków, the University of Silesia in Katowice, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, and the University of Warsaw.
The meeting provided an excellent opportunity for participants to get to know one another and to talk about their academic interests, their reasons for choosing Polish studies, and their plans for the coming years. Discussions frequently returned to the Polonista NAWA programme as a genuine opportunity to study in Poland and to deepen knowledge of the Polish language, literature and culture through direct engagement with everyday academic life.
The programme included integration activities as well as a presentation of the programme offer of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).
A key highlight of the meeting was an inspiring talk by Ms Yan Sun, a doctoral candidate at the Doctoral School of Language and Literature Studies at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and a laureate of the 24th edition of the Professor Czesław Zgorzelski National Competition for Master’s Theses. She spoke about her academic path and current research, and encouraged scholarship holders to take part in academic competitions.
On the second day, participants took part in language and culture workshops at the Museum of Warsaw. The programme also included visits to the exhibitions and an opportunity to admire the panorama of the Old Town.
The two day meeting concluded with a shared lunch. We would like to thank all participants for their activity, engagement and the wonderful atmosphere throughout the event.
