Scientists and representatives of universities, as well as the Polish scientific community and those interested in multi-level cooperation with Polish institutions, are invited to participate in the “Polish Science & International Mobility - Meetup Chicago” event, to be held on February 5, 2024
The first in the series of “Polish Science & International Mobility” events was organized by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange in 2023 in New York, in close cooperation with the Consulate General in New York. The event was attended by approximately 60 Polish and foreign scientists interested in the Polish offer. The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange's presence in the USA was accompanied by a number of meetings aimed at promoting the Agency's offer. Moreover, the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange coordinated the participation of its two scholarship holders in the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, organized by the UN.

In 2024, the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange goes back to the USA, but to a different city. This time the event will take place in Chicago, and Polish universities will also take part. The Consulate General in Chicago is the co-organizer of the meeting, and the Polish Institute in New York and the Polish-American Fulbright Commission are the event partners.
Representatives of American universities, individual scientists at all stages of their scientific careers, future PhD students and Polish scientists are invited to participate in the meeting.

Participation in the meeting also provides the opportunity to listen to a discussion panel devoted to the impact of mobility on a scientific career, presentation of the offer of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange and Polish universities, as well as time for networking.

Scientific cooperation between Poland and the USA
Year by year, scientific cooperation between Poland and the USA is gaining strength and intensity. This means further joint projects and research trips as part of mobility programs. New opportunities in the form of research grants and international mobility can be considered as one of the elements of making the cooperation more dynamic.
The USA is one of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange's priority geographical directions. Every year, the agency organizes a Polish stand for universities at one of the largest international fairs and conferences, NAFSA. The United States are also one of the most frequently chosen countries under the Bekker NAWA program, and in Poland we host American researchers who choose Polish institutions to implement the Ulam NAWA program or Polish scientists who decided to return to their homeland under the Polish Returns NAWA program. An important program addressed to the medical community is the Walczak NAWA program, its first three editions enabled scientists and doctors to complete internships in the best American centers. The next edition of the program was extended to include the possibility of traveling to other countries.
The Agency's offer also includes institutional support for building strategic partnerships under the Strategic Partnerships program.
Attention should also be paid to the IMPRESS-U (International Multilateral Partnerships for Resilient Education and Science System in Ukraine) program. This is the result of an international agreement between grant organizations from six countries: the USA (U.S.NSF and NASEM), Poland (Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange and NCN), Ukraine (NRFU), Estonia (ETAG), Latvia (LCS) and Lithuania (RCL). The IMPRESS-U program will support research in any field of science, engineering, education and innovation. As part of the partnership, proposals for joint ventures carried out by American scientists in cooperation with scientists from Ukraine and researchers from at least one partner country may be submitted to the U.S.NSF. Projects that increase efficiency within international partnerships, support scientific staff and contribute to building a modern ecosystem of research, education and innovation in Ukraine will be particularly sought after.
In addition to the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, a number of Polish institutions cooperate with American institutions. It is worth paying attention to the National Science Center and the Polish Academy of Sciences, they permanently cooperate with its American counterpart - the National Academy of Sciences, NAS.
It is difficult to talk about scientific exchange between Poland and the USA without mentioning the Polish-American Fulbright Commission. It is the largest scientific and cultural exchange program in the United States, Poland joined in 1959 as the first country in Eastern Europe. The programs offered by the Commission operate in two ways, which means departures of Polish scientists to the USA and arrivals of Americans to Poland.
Scientific cooperation and research stays are also efforts of universities interested in international cooperation and exchange. Joint projects, publications, research stays, study visits, conferences and many others result from the university's efforts, established contacts and the desire to establish new ones.
