Polish Language and Literature Program conducted by the University of Toronto announces the call for applications for short-term scientific traineeships.

The Joanna DeMone scholarship is an excellent initiative for young scientists interested in conducting research in North America. During the visit, the scholarship holders will have an opportunity to use impressive library resources of the University of Toronto as well as to participate in the rich intellectual life of the university. Scientific meetings, cultural events and those promoting Polish language and culture are only some benefits entailed by participation in a scientific traineeship.

Humanists taking their post-doctoral or complementary Master’s studies at Polish universities may apply for a stay of 12 or 14 weeks. The visit may be held from mid-September to mid-May. The offered scholarship covers the cost of maintenance, university fees, including health insurance. The amount of the scholarship depends on the duration of the stay.

Those who are interested are requested to send the following documents in English, by 28 February 2019:

  • cover letter;
  • scientific resume;
  • description of a project which the candidate would like to implement;  two letters of recommendation.

The scholarship committee will take into account, first of all, the objectives of research projects, including their compatibility with the activities of the Polish department at the University of Toronto.

The results of the call will be announced in mid-March 2019.
