  • The results of the call for applications for the placement of teachers of Polish as a foreign language at foreign academic centres offering Polish language courses have been announced. In the 2026/2027 academic year, 99 NAWA lecturers will be sent to 105 centres in 43 countries.

The Lektorzy NAWA Programme is one of the most important programmes of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange. Its aim goes beyond simply popularising the language. Our lecturers are open to other cultures and ready to take on new challenges; for them, teaching Polish is both a passion and a mission. The recruitment procedure selected the best candidates, who will become ambassadors of the Polish language and culture abroad, introducing students from various parts of the world to our culture, history, art and science.

NAWA supports the establishment of new Polish language courses outside Poland by recruiting candidates in line with the expectations of universities and by delegating teachers of Polish. Each year, NAWA adds new centres to the programme. In the 2026/2027 academic year, several new universities will appear on our map. For the first time, our lecturers will be present at universities in Canada (the University of Ottawa) and Sweden (Lund University). We are expanding our cooperation with Brazil (the University of São Paulo), France (the University of Lille), Germany (Trier University and Saarland University in Saarbrücken), Türkiye (Ankara University), Vietnam (Hanoi University of Mining and Geology), the United Kingdom (the University of Oxford), and Italy — in the 2026/2027 academic year, we have added further new Italian centres: the University of Udine and Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, where NAWA lecturers will teach Polish. After a break, we are also returning to Indonesia and beginning cooperation with the University of Indonesia in Jakarta.

In the past academic year, NAWA lecturers taught Polish as a foreign language at 93 academic centres on five continents. Polish language courses are offered as part of Polish studies, Polish-area studies and Slavic studies programmes around the world. The largest groups of NAWA lecturers work in China, Ukraine, France and Italy. In cooperation with universities, Polish diplomatic missions, Polish diaspora organisations, and local associations and foundations, the lecturers prepare cultural events aimed at introducing foreigners to our history, literature and contemporary achievements of Poles. NAWA lecturers organise film screenings, theatre performances, exhibitions, as well as meetings, workshops and discussions. Each academic year, they teach a total of around 2,500–3,000 people.

We warmly congratulate all accepted candidates!
