We are opening the call for proposals for the fourth edition of the POLONISTA NAWA Programme. The objective of the Programme is to promote the Polish language in the world by enabling foreigners interested in the Polish language and Polish culture to study or carry out research projects in Poland.

Students, doctoral students as well as scientists from foreign universities and scientific institutions are invited to participate in the Programme.

The objective of the Programme is to promote the Polish language and to popularize studies and research in Polish studies and Polish philology around the world. The Programme is addressed to students and doctoral students of Polish philology, Polish studies or Polish programmes implemented among others as part of Slavic studies (in the field of the Polish language, Polish culture and knowledge about Poland) as well as to scientists from foreign universities and scientific institutions.

Students – NAWA scholarship holders – can expand their interests in Polish studies by refining their language skills, participating in lectures and classes according to the selected curriculum, conducting research, carrying out scholarly projects, gathering material for their research or thesis and using the resources at university libraries and archives in the course of part-time (one-term or two-term) or full-time studies in Poland. The candidates select the university at which they wish to take up studies. The field of studies chosen by the Applicant should be consistent with the curriculum of the studies carried out at the home university and with the assumptions of the Programme. The Applicant has to obtain the consent of the selected university to undertake the studies and the approval for the presented curriculum, and in the case of candidates for full-time studies, successfully complete the recruitment procedure at the selected university. The language of instruction of the studies is Polish.

Further persons eligible to participate in the Programme are winners and finalists of the Polish Literature and Language Contest organised outside of Poland, who can apply for a NAWA scholarship for the period of first or second-degree Polish studies at a selected public university in Poland.

Under the Programme, scientists from foreign academic and research centres may carry out research projects or research and didactic projects lasting from 3 to 12 months at Polish universities and scientific institutions. The Programme makes it possible, among others, to conduct scientific research (including in cooperation with Polish scientists), obtain research materials, prepare scientific publications, complete postdoctoral internship, conduct didactic classes at the Host Institution, and participate in intensive classes of the Polish language. The POLONISTA Programme Scholarship is available to Applicants whose research projects involve the Polish language, glottodidactics in the area of Polish studies, literary studies, comparative studies, Polish culture, arts or history.
