  • We know the results of this year’s Ulam NAWA call. A total of 324 applications were submitted, and researchers from 52 countries applied for the opportunity to carry out their research in Poland. Following the evaluation process, 71 projects were selected to receive funding.

    Among the awarded proposals, there are also 6 projects distinguished with the Seal of Excellence certificate, granted under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowships.

     

    Call Summary


    • A total of 324 applications were submitted by researchers from 52 countries.
    • Funding was awarded to 71 projects, including 6 under the Seal of Excellence track (a certificate granted within the Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions Individual Fellowships).
    • Women constitute 27% of the beneficiaries.
    • The most represented countries include India, Italy, Iran, Poland, China, Brazil, Pakistan and Australia. For the first time, the programme will also host researchers from Georgia, Malaysia, Ghana, South Korea and Switzerland.

    • Projects were awarded across 6 scientific discipline areas:

    • o Natural sciences: 43
      o Engineering and technology: 17
      o Medical and health sciences: 3
      o Agricultural sciences: 3
      o Social sciences: 4
      o Humanities: 1
      (Total: 71)
      • Beneficiaries selected 36 different institutions in Poland as host organisations, including the University of Warsaw (11), Jagiellonian University in Kraków (6), Wrocław University of Science and Technology (5), and many other institutions.

    Importance and Outlook


    The Ulam NAWA programme is a key initiative supporting the internationalisation of Polish science. It enables institutions in Poland to invite outstanding and promising researchers from around the world or Polish scholars working abroad, regardless of their scientific discipline. The duration of the stay ranges from 6 to 24 months. The programme supports research and publications and strengthens the capacity of Polish institutions to prepare competitive applications for prestigious grants.

     

    Who Is Eligible?


    • Researchers holding at least a doctoral degree or equivalent obtained abroad.
    • Polish higher education and science institutions (universities and research institutes) hosting the researcher.
    • Researchers holding the MSCA Seal of Excellence certificate may apply under the Seal of Excellence track; in such cases, the application is exempt from substantive evaluation.

    Institutions and researchers interested in future editions of the programme are encouraged to follow the NAWA website (nawa.gov.pl). Detailed information on the next call, including regulations and timelines, will be published there in February 2026.
