Italy, Brazil, the USA, China and Greece are just some of the countries whose citizens will begin research at Polish universities under the Ulam NAWA scholarship programme.

This year is the fourth year that NAWA has announced a call for applications for the Stanisław Ulam NAWA scholarship programme. Foreign scientists interested in conducting research at Polish institutions were invited to apply in April. The NAWA system received 172 applications.

As part of this year’s programme, scholarships will go to 42 researchers. They will begin their research stays at Polish universities as well as scientific and research institutes effective from January 2023.

Researchers from 18 countries were among those selected for funding. India, Ukraine, Pakistan and Italy are the most represented ones. Among the scholarship holders are also citizens from the USA, Vietnam, Greece, Brazil and Nigeria, among others.

20 scholarships were awarded in the area of engineering and technical sciences, 12 in natural sciences, four in social sciences, three in agricultural sciences, two in humanities and one scholarship in medical and health sciences.

The scholarship holders will carry out their research projects in 28 centres located in 10 Polish cities.
