We already know which projects will receive NAWA funding under the Polish Returns programme. For the sixth time, we are making it possible for Polish scientists to return to the country and further develop their careers in Poland.
This time, nine male and female scientists from five countries will return to the country: USA, UK, Switzerland, Israel and Germany. The Laureates mainly represent the biological, chemical and physical sciences, as well as mechanical engineering, economics and philosophy. The funding that the Laureates will receive under the programme includes remuneration for the returning scientist, the members of the project group and the invitee. Thanks to the cooperation of the National Agency for Academic Cooperation with the National Science Centre and the National Centre for Research and Development, a start-up grant is also available for participants in the programme to cover research costs during the first 18 months of the Polish Returns grants.
Once again, we are proving that NAWA programmes open the door for scholars to achieve scientific independence by building their own research teams. For Polish universities and institutes, the possibility of employing returning scientists is an opportunity to develop new specialisations and strengthen international cooperation based on the experience and network of these excellent scientists - says NAWA Director General Dr Dawid Kostecki.
The centres that will employ the returning researchers are: Wrocław University of Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, University of Gdańsk, University of Warsaw, International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw, International Institute of Molecular Mechanisms and Machines of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Institute of Fundamental Technological Problems of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
